Roosevelt High School

Constructed in 1922, Building R which is a 3 story 125,000 SF classroom and auditorium at Roosevelt High School in Boyle Heights was one of 5 LA high schools that participated in the East LA Chicano student walk-out in March 1968. The students were protesting many issues that are still relevant today. MILLER is responsible for preserving a number of historically significant items within the building prior to the demo. Demolition of the remaining structure will allow a more safe and modern campus to be created while not letting the past be forgotten. This $173M design-build project will allow students of the 21st century to get the education they deserve.
